The Iolani School Phase 1 project features a new 36-classroom building, athletic stadium and multi-purpose building. The design captures Iolani's rich historical legacy and expands the school's educational capabilities. It is the first "green" educational facility in Hawaii.
The intent of the landscape design was to enhance the architecture and create a tropical, Hawaiian landscape where the plants could be used by the students and staff. Loulu Fan Palms are planted at the drop-off and football field to create a signature landscape element. Singapore Plumeria Trees provide fragrance, while Rainbow Shower Trees provide shade in the Weinberg Courtyard.
